President’s Corner:

        Greetings from the sunny North.  Many have said that folks go North in the summer to escape the heat, but I can assure you that, at least this year, it has NOT worked.  It's been great to see old friends here and spend time with the Grandkids, but we sure have missed The Villages and cannot wait to get back.  Thanks to Chuck for standing in as President.  Kay and I  look forward to participating in the games night sponsored by Dan and Shelia during the September 12th regular meeting at the Savannah Center.  Playing/learning some board games should be fun and can't wait to sample some of the delicious deserts you all usually bring.  The club has an exciting fall season planned.  The October meeting will feature Bingo and Pizza, and in November we will have Sparky’s Strummer with members providing side dishes and the club providing the turkey. We will again have our Holiday get together with singing duo Memory Lane providing entertainment and the meal will be catered by Hacienda.

The Ladies September Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 15 at 11:30 am at TGI Fridays in the Villages. We will order off the menu but need your reservation by Wednesday, September 8. Please contact: Judy Rebhorn (259-0603) or Dolores Pare’ (259-5314). Please come and get to know our new ladies and renew friendships with other ladies from our Village.

 

September Alhambra Club Social Event

We are going to have GAME NIGHT…. September 12th … doors open at 5:30 pm and we will start at 6 pm. Bring any board game/ card game… whatever… to have others enjoy. Bring your own group or bring the game and we will put together groups. What a fun way to meet other Alhambra members! And we need you to bring deserts to share for the Desert Table (what great eating!!!). There is no cost but we need you to make reservations so we can plan on tables. Please RSVP to either Dan (352-269-1097) or Sheila (863-450-6782) and we need to know the number attending, if you are bringing your own group to play a game or you are bringing a game and need people to join you or you want to be put with a group playing a certain game. We need to know what kind of table you need (card table, round, long table, etc.) So we need lots of good information from you so we can plan….. So please RSVP by  Friday, September 3rd. Look forward to seeing you all and eating your great deserts! (PS… I am not suppose to tell you this but Dan is planning an LCR game which is a dice game …. $3 in… hilarious…. Room for everyone!)

If you want anything posted contact Ed Nowe at ednowe@aol.com.  ALSO… if you want to receive info on what is happening (especially with traffic patterns for golf carts now that we are under construction) please send your email address to Ed so he can add you to the mailing list. This is something you really want to do!

 We continue with our support of Haven House.

 Membership: Annual dues are $5 per person. Contact Judy Rebhorn (259-0603)

 Village Identification cards will be checked every meeting so be sure to bring your ID card for events and guests will also need guest ID to attend Club functions at rec centers.

 Sunshine Lady: Alice Quinn (753-9250) to report anyone who is ill or who has suffered a recent loss.

 Newsletter Printing: Need financial assistance to cover cost of printing the newsletter. Pay for a month or put together with friends and sponsor one newsletter. Put a buck in the jar at club meetings or give a check to Cathy Conti.

 Welcome to New Residents: Welcome Committee will deliver gift basket and smiles. Contact Sheila (269-1097) or Kay (751-0049) with names and addresses of new residents.
